Deshacerse de forma limpia de las llantas inservibles no es fácil, pues según Laura Cardona Gómez y Luz María Sánchez Montoya en su trabajo “Aprovechamiento de Llantas Usadas para la fabricación de pisos decorativos” (2011) y de acuerdo al Ministerio de ambiente, Vivienda y Desarrollo territorial Resolución 1457 de 2010, en Colombia también se presenta esta situación en el tratamiento de las llantas de vehículos que después de su vida útil son arrojadas a botaderos, quebradas y muchas veces en las calles, siendo esto un problema que afecta al medio ambiente, al espacio público, a toda forma de vida y en especial al ser humano. Para contribuir en la solución de este problema nació la idea de este trabajo, cuyo objetivo general es desarrollar tapetes de automóvil aprovechando el caucho de llantas en desuso para prolongar su vida útil y minimizar la contaminación ambiental. El logro de este objetivo exigió recorrer varias etapas, etapas que se detallan en el presente informe de estudio y que se sintetizan así: 1.Recopilación de información alrededor de temáticas sobre llantas (generalidades, partes y componentes), sobre reciclaje, sobre reutilización, sobre pisos, sobre tejidos y sobre tapetes; 2. Se examinaron aplicaciones tecnológicas existentes en cuanto a condiciones y repercusiones de uso del caucho. 3. Finalmente y a partir de toda la información bibliográfica, de expertos, profesionales y usuarios se optó por reciclar y transformar los desechos de las llantas a través de un proceso artesanal de producción que permitió usar este material para obtener Superficies de automóvil aprovechando las llantas en desuso así la nueva alternativa en el manejo de las llantas usadas: tapetes para automóviles amigables con el medio ambiente. / Abstract: The constant manufacture of tires and the difficulty to dispose of them after they are used, constitutes one of the most serious environmental problems in recent years in the world. Cleanly dispose of unusable tires is not easy, because according to Laura Cardona Gómez and Luz María Sánchez Montoya in her work "Taking advantage of Used Tires for the manufacture of decorative floors" (2011) and according to the Ministry of Environment, Housing and Territorial development Resolution 1457 of 2010, in Colombia also presents this situation in the treatment of the tires of vehicles that after their useful life are thrown to dumps, ravines and many times in the streets, this being a problem that affects the environment , to the public space, to all forms of life and especially to the human being. To contribute to the solution of this problem was born the idea of this work, whose general objective is to develop car mats taking advantage of the tire rubber in disuse to prolong its useful life and minimize environmental pollution. The achievement of this objective required several stages, stages that are detailed in this study report and summarized as follows: 1. Compilation of information about tire themes (general, parts and components), about recycling, about reuse, over floors, over fabrics and over rugs; 2.
