El objetivo de este estudio fue identificar la posible relación entre los niveles de inteligencia emocional (IE) y la aparición de las CALNS en adolescentes escolarizados, con edades entre los 11 y 17 años. Los instrumentos empleados fueron: cuestionario sociodemográfico, Self-Harm Questionnaire (SHQ-E), Trait Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS-24) y una entrevista semiestructurada. Los resultados evidenciaron correlación significativa entre los niveles de IE y la práctica de CALNS; además, permitió identificar los métodos empleados para autolesionarse, las funciones psicológicas que cumplen y los niveles de IE. Se discute la invisibilidad de estas prácticas y se propone la profundización de esta problemática a nivel interdisciplinario. Abstract: Non-suicidal self-injurious behaviors (NSSI) are risky behavior, by means of which the individual inflicts harm on himself intentionally, without the purpose of committing suicide and with the aim of mitigating the discomfort that cuts across the different spheres of his life. The objective of this study was to identify the possible relationship between levels of emotional intelligence (EI) and the appearance of CALNS in school adolescents, aged 11 and 17 years. The instruments used were: sociodemographic questionnaire, Self-Harm Questionnaire (SHQ-E), Trait Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS-24) and a semi-structured interview. The results showed significant correlation between the levels of EI and NSSI; in addition, it allowed to identify the methods used to injure themselves, psychological functions that they fulfill and the levels of EI.
