Esta investigación nace de la necesidad que surgió después de revisar la literatura existente sobre el concepto de Bilenguajeo introducido por Walter Mignolo, encontrando así, resultados preocupantes sobre la estimación del término y su significado en las diferentes teorías del bilingüismo. Así pues, se procedió a realizar una investigación tipo estado del arte teniendo en cuenta también la teoría fundamentada para el buen desarrollo de esta. De esta manera, por medio de entrevistas no estructuradas realizadas a dos expertas, la primera, Dra. Silvia Valencia, experta en el campo del bilingüismo y la otra, Dra.
