Summary:This research is focused on implementing an integral plan of solid waste and source separation with environmental education emphasis that enables create a culture of change and an adequate management of solid waste produced by the Robledo School in the municipality of Calarcá, Quindío. The research arises through a quantitative and descriptive methodology and takes a sample of 74 students associated to 4.06% according to the surveys. The knowledge about solid waste management is then determined by the initial and final survey tabulation. Results obtained show that the population is indifferent to this issue, since most of the students do not have clear concepts about it. To this end, a number of important activities are carried out to promote students’ abilities, creativity and interest in the issue of solid waste management.
