Se incluyeron en el estudio 15 cuidadores informales de pacientes con enfermedad crónica incapacitante. Se logró identificar las principales características del cuidador informal, encontrando que este rol es ejercido especialmente por el género femenino con un 87%, hijas, esposas o nueras, con edades entre los 41 a 60 años de edad con un 73%, con un nivel socioeconómico bajo, nivel educativo de secundaria completa con un 60%, desempeñando el rol de cuidador informal desde hace 5 años o más con un 60%. De igual manera se encontró que un 80% de los cuidadores informales presenta el síndrome del cuidador, un 93% presenta síntomas de ansiedad, un 67% síntomas de depresión al igual que un 67% mixto; ansiedad y depresión, logrando comprobar que realizar esta función sin contar con los conocimientos y herramientas para hacerlo genera manifestaciones que afectan significativamente la salud física y mental del cuidador. De acuerdo con lo anterior se realizó una propuesta de intervención por medio de la cual se busca el fortalecimiento de habilidades del cuidador hacia la labor de cuidado, teniendo en cuenta cada una de las dimensiones como son la personal, familiar, social, laboral y económica.This research project aimed to identify the manifestations of the syndrome in family caregivers of patients with chronic disabling disease associated with EPS Coomeva Ibagué, which was made from the descriptive qualitative approach, using test instruments such as the Zarit, Scale anxiety and depression, and Golberg an open and structured interview. 15 informal caregivers of patients with chronic disabling disease were included in the study. It was possible to identify the main features of informal caregiver, finding that this role is particularly exercised by the female gender with 87%, daughters, wives or daughters, aged 41 to 60 years old with 73%, with a level low socioeconomic status, education level completed secondary with 60%, playing the role of informal caregiver for 5 years or more with 60%. Similarly it was found that 80% of informal caregivers presents caregiver syndrome, 93% have symptoms of anxiety, 67% depression symptoms as well as a 67% joint; anxiety and depression, making sure that perform this function without the knowledge and tools to do so generates events that significantly affect physical and mental health of the caregiver.
