La investigación se desarrolló en la finca Las Brisas ubicada en la vereda la Leona del Municipio de San José del Guaviare, propiedad del señor Jesús Manuel Páez García. La evaluación se llevó acabo en dos etapas. En la primera se evaluó la germinación y crecimiento; para ello se seleccionó un árbol semillero con unas condiciones fenotípicas favorables, del cual se obtuvieron 2000 semillas para iniciar con el proceso de propagación en dos condiciones (bajo polisombra al 70% y a exposición solar) con cuatro sustratos en cada condición (franco arcilloso, franco arenoso, franco limoso y finalmente uno con mezcla de los tres anteriores), en cada uno de los cuales se sembraron 250 semillas, iniciando su proceso de germinación a los treinta días posteriores a la siembra, determinando un mejor desarrollo en los sustratos que se encontraban bajo sombra. La segunda etapa fue el desarrollo de las plántulas en sitio definitivo. Se sembraron tres parcelas con diferentes tratamientos, a la primera se le aplicó una mezcla de cal dolomita y fertilizante químico (19-18-18-5 CaO Fertiabonar)) la segunda se encalo y a la tercera no se le aplicó ningún tratamiento. En cada parcela se sembraron cincuenta individuos, de los cuales se seleccionó una muestra de treinta y tres individuos que fueron enumerados con placas de metal, se les registró quincenalmente su crecimiento durante ocho meses, teniendo en cuenta variables como, altura (tomada desde la base del tallo hasta su ápice), diámetro (registraba a tres cm de la base de la planta) y el número de hojas.
