However, one of the most feared and difficult-to-manage complications in joint replacements is periprosthetic infection (PPI). A cross-sectional study was proposed, designed with the objective of describing the clinical results of the use of Cement Spacers with double antibiotic (Gentamicin + Vancomycin) in periprosthetic infections applied in patients treated in a Health Services Provider Institution in Barranquilla in the period January 2018 to December 2022. 52.8% of the patients belong to the male sex, the mean age 64.7 ± 7.9 years (range 46 – 82 years); 52.8% of the prostheses involved were knee and the remaining 47.8% hip prosthesis, pain was the main clinical manifestation with 81.1% followed by fever with 60.4%. It was concluded that 2 out of 3 patients with PPI of the knee or hip progressed satisfactorily to a new joint replacement with antimicrobial management and the use of dual antibiotic cement spacers (gentamicin + vancomycin).PDFInfección periprotésicaEspaciadores de cemento con doble antibiótico (gentamicina + vancomicina)Periprosthetic infectionDual antibiotic (gentamicin + vancomycin) cement spacersCirugía ortopédica - transplanteProfilaxis antibióticaVancomicinaGentamicinasResultados clinicos del uso de espaciadores de cemento con doble antibiótico (Gentamicina + Vancomicina) en infecciones periprotésicas en una institución prestadora de servicios de salud Barranquilla 2018-2022Tesis de Especializacióninfo:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesishttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_7a1fNequesha S.
