Aim: To evaluate the glycemic response after a session of moderate or vigorous physical exercise in young women in the state of fasting. Material and method: A randomized clinical trial was carried out. Twenty-six women (19 to 22 years old) were randomly assigned to two intervention groups. The first group was trained at an intensity of 70% of maximum heart rate (MHR) for 30 minutes, and the second group at an intensity of 90% MHR for 15 minutes. Height (cm), weight (Kg), body mass index (BMI), fat percentage, and maximum oxygen consumption (VO2max) during a stress test were evaluated. Blood glucose levels were checked before and after the exercise session of each group. Results: No significant changes were found in post-exercise blood glucose levels in any experimental group, and the existing differences were not statistically significant. Conclusions: Moderate or vigorous physical exercise during fasting did not show significant variations in blood glucose, which suggests that it is safe for healthy young women to train when fasting.application/pdf0212-8799https://repositorio.udes.edu.co/handle/001/3399engArchivos de Medicina del DeporteDerechos Reservados - Universidad de Santander, 2018info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessAtribución-NoComercial 4.0 Internacional (CC BY-NC 4.0)https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2http://archivosdemedicinadeldeporte.com/articulos/upload/or03_delgado-ingles.pdfExerciseBlood glucoseAthletic performanceBody compositionBlood glucose response to two intensities of physical exercise in young women during fastingArtículo de revistahttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_2df8fbb1Textinfo:eu-repo/semantics/articlehttp://purl.org/redcol/resource_type/ARTinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionhttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85PublicationTHUMBNAILBlood glucose response to two intensities of physical exercise in young women during fasting.pdf.jpgBlood glucose response to two intensities of physical exercise in young women during fasting.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg1543https://repositorio.udes.edu.co/bitstreams/8061b699-9924-46fb-8763-a8ddf9ae5416/download76d77d1f65c19caaa8b7eda6013786d8MD54TEXTBlood glucose response to two intensities of physical exercise in young women during fasting.pdf.txtBlood glucose response to two intensities of physical exercise in young women during fasting.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain24398https://repositorio.udes.edu.co/bitstreams/652983b9-4fea-4991-8e45-87825f56576a/downloadf516b218d2cefec74e0ccc7e631ec21eMD53LICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain; charset=utf-859https://repositorio.udes.edu.co/bitstreams/329a23eb-240a-4cc6-b60b-54d6aae6df34/download38d94cf55aa1bf2dac1a736ac45c881cMD52ORIGINALBlood glucose response to two intensities of physical exercise in young women during fasting.pdfBlood glucose response to two intensities of physical exercise in young women during fasting.pdfapplication/pdf261517https://repositorio.udes.edu.co/bitstreams/eb5469e8-2b35-45dd-aa63-11b328dd249c/downloadc19743ca806cadcb38fd631ac49c54d2MD55001/3399oai:repositorio.udes.edu.co:001/33992023-10-10 12:52:16.023https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/Derechos Reservados - Universidad de Santander, 2018https://repositorio.udes.edu.coRepositorio Universidad de Santandersoporte@metabiblioteca.comTGljZW5jaWEgZGUgUHVibGljYWNpw7NuIFVERVMKRGlyZWN0cmljZXMgZGUgVVNPIHkgQUNDRVNPCgo= |
