El virus es del género Morbillivirus y hace parte de la familia Paramyxoviridae. La prevención es realizada por medio de la vacunación, al ser la respuesta inmune individual y especifica no todos los caninos desarrollan títulos de anticuerpos IgM e IgG protectivos, debido a esto, se presentan caninos vacunados con títulos de anticuerpos bajos por una estimulación pobre de la actividad celular, encontrándose expuestos a contraer la enfermedad. La falla vacunal se debe a una respuesta inmune insuficiente, el estatus sanitario del animal y a un mal manejo vacunal. Debido a esto el objetivo principal de este trabajo es determinar los títulos de anticuerpos anti-moquillo en caninos de Bucaramanga y su área metropolitana. Se tomaron muestras de sangre de 92 caninos mayores a 6 meses de edad con antecedentes de vacunación contra moquillo. Y posteriormente mediante la técnica de inmunoensayo enzimático indirecto (ELISA), se determinaron los títulos de anticuerpos IgG e IgM contra al virus en suero. Adicionalmente se realizó una encuesta epidemiológica a los propietarios, con el fin de caracterizar variables poblacionales y su posible relación con los títulos de anticuerpos obtenidos. Se determinó que, de los 92 caninos implementados en el estudio, 28/92 presentaron títulos de anticuerpos IgG altos (31%), 55/92 presentaron títulos de anticuerpos IgG medios (60%) y 9/92 presentaron títulos de anticuerpos IgG bajos (9%) con una asociación estadística significativa con las variables poblacionales edad y refuerzo de vacunación. Los títulos de anticuerpos IgM fueron clasificados en bajos/medios y altos, con un total de 79/92 caninos con títulos de anticuerpos IgM altos (86%) y 13/92 caninos con títulos de anticuerpos IgM medios/ bajos (14%), la clasificación no tuvo asociación estadística con las variablesCanine distemper is a highly contagious and pathogenic viral disease, due to its high morbidity and mortality rates. The virus belongs to the Morbillivirus genus and Paramyxoviridae family. Prevention is based on vaccination, since the immune response is individual and specific, not all dogs develop protective IgM and IgG antibody titers, due to this, vaccinated dogs present low antibody titers explained by poor stimulation of celular immunity and are exposed to contracting the disease. Vaccine failure is the result of insufficient immune response, animal health status and poor vaccination management. Therefore, the aim of this work is to determine the titers of anti-distemper antibodies (IgG and IgM) in dogs from Bucaramanga and its metropolitan area. Blood from of 92 dogs older than 6 months of age with a history of vaccination against distemper was taken. After serum extraction samples were analyzed using indirect enzyme immunoassay (ELISA) technique. Additionally, an epidemiological survey was carried out to the owners, in order to characterize population variables and their possible relationship with the antibody titers obtained. that the results showed that, out of the 92 canines implemented in the study, 28/92 presented high IgG antibody titers (30.43%), 55/92 presented medium IgG antibody titers (59.78%) and 9/92 presented titers of low IgG antibodies (9.78%) with a significant statistical association in the population variables age and vaccination reinforcement.
