However, methodological errors are often observed, such as joint analysis of men and women. Another important aspect is that we still do not know whether cardiorespiratory fitness influences these autonomic parameters in healthy individuals. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to investigate whether sex can affect BRS, autonomic modulation of HR and BP variabilities (HRV and BPV, respectively), as well as the influence of cardiorespiratory fitness on these autonomic parameters. METHODS: Healthy men and women (N=120) were assigned to groups according to the peak oxygen consumption (VO2 peak) obtained in the cardiorespiratory test: low cardiorespiratory fitness (VO2 peak: 22-38 ml/kg/min), moderate cardiorespiratory fitness (VO2 peak: 38-48 ml/kg/min), and high cardiorespiratory fitness (VO2 peak>48 ml/kg/min). HRV and BPV evaluations were performed for all groups in the frequency domain by spectral analysis. Spontaneous BRS was assessed using the sequence method. RESULTS: Women presented lower BP values compared with men. HR did not differ between sexes, but showed an inverse relationship with cardiorespiratory performance. The HRV analysis showed greater sympathetic modulation for men and greater vagal modulation for women. Men and women presented similar results for systolic BPV and BRS, and cardiorespiratory performance did not influence any of the autonomic parameters evaluated. CONCLUSION: Cardiorespiratory fitness does not interfere with HRV and BPV autonomic modulation or BRS. However, the cardiac modulatory balance differs between sexes, with a greater influence of the autonomic vagal component in women and the sympathetic component in men.application/pdf10.1097/MBP.00000000000003381359-52371473-5725https://repositorio.udes.edu.co/handle/001/3305engBlood Pressure MonitoringDerechos Reservados - Universidad de Santander, 2018info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessAtribución-NoComercial 4.0 Internacional (CC BY-NC 4.0)https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2https://journals.lww.com/bpmonitoring/fulltext/2018/10000/The_blood_pressure_variability_and_baroreflex.7.aspx#pdf-linkcardiorespiratory fitnessCardiovascular autonomic controlSexSpontaneous baroreflex sensitivityThe blood pressure variability and baroreflex sensitivity in healthy participants are not determined by sex or cardiorespiratory fitnessArtículo de revistahttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_2df8fbb1Textinfo:eu-repo/semantics/articlehttp://purl.org/redcol/resource_type/ARTinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionhttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85PublicationTHUMBNAILThe blood pressure variability and baroreflex sensitivity in healthy participants are not determined by sex or cardiorespiratory fitness..pdf.jpgThe blood pressure variability and baroreflex sensitivity in healthy participants are not determined by sex or cardiorespiratory fitness..pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg2030https://repositorio.udes.edu.co/bitstreams/c4a1f8c3-55a5-43b4-a8a1-8ff764ab20a2/download05853103a00f18be55f9a6c523e8e2c4MD55The blood pressure variability and baroreflex sensitivity in healthy participants are not determined by sex or cardiorespiratory fitness.pdf.jpgThe blood pressure variability and baroreflex sensitivity in healthy participants are not determined by sex or cardiorespiratory fitness.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg14965https://repositorio.udes.edu.co/bitstreams/83198071-fe33-4fd1-91b0-21405c0cd4ef/download9a6c3cbed5f8b41391d77bbc5bbd0ddbMD58ORIGINALThe blood pressure variability and baroreflex sensitivity in healthy participants are not determined by sex or cardiorespiratory fitness.pdfThe blood pressure variability and baroreflex sensitivity in healthy participants are not determined by sex or cardiorespiratory fitness.pdfapplication/pdf314472https://repositorio.udes.edu.co/bitstreams/d37d4e6e-f1f8-4112-9274-4e72f21e289e/download107328e5cca5bd0633a32d43ac06b66fMD56TEXTThe blood pressure variability and baroreflex sensitivity in healthy participants are not determined by sex or cardiorespiratory fitness..pdf.txtThe blood pressure variability and baroreflex sensitivity in healthy participants are not determined by sex or cardiorespiratory fitness..pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain50102https://repositorio.udes.edu.co/bitstreams/e4da042d-5876-4d75-8b7d-36d7f4624e3a/download05b154a8b251655e40d275ad5d3f1b07MD54The blood pressure variability and baroreflex sensitivity in healthy participants are not determined by sex or cardiorespiratory fitness.pdf.txtThe blood pressure variability and baroreflex sensitivity in healthy participants are not determined by sex or cardiorespiratory fitness.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain5https://repositorio.udes.edu.co/bitstreams/e46c7a8a-e145-4a9e-9072-f8035f5c0978/download5dbe86c1111d64f45ba435df98fdc825MD57LICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain; charset=utf-859https://repositorio.udes.edu.co/bitstreams/2e8b2a62-3aad-4a66-b00e-fa776f1c4648/download38d94cf55aa1bf2dac1a736ac45c881cMD52001/3305oai:repositorio.udes.edu.co:001/33052023-10-10 12:52:58.111https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/Derechos Reservados - Universidad de Santander, 2018https://repositorio.udes.edu.coRepositorio Universidad de Santandersoporte@metabiblioteca.comTGljZW5jaWEgZGUgUHVibGljYWNpw7NuIFVERVMKRGlyZWN0cmljZXMgZGUgVVNPIHkgQUNDRVNPCgo= |
