Se recopilaron datos sobre seroprevalencia de T. gondii en gatos domésticos y felinos salvajes a nivel mundial donde la seroprevalencia general fue 35% y la prevalencia en Suramérica fue del 37% en gatos domésticos y 66% en felinos salvajes. Un estudio del eje cafetero colombiano obtuvo una prevalencia de 52.7% en humanos y se informa que los FR asociados son la interacción de gatos domésticos con callejeros, el consumo de dieta con carne cruda y la caza. Objetivo: Determinar la seroprevalencia y FR asociados a la presentación de T. gondii en gatos de clínicas del área metropolitana de Bucaramanga. Metodología: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal, se tomó sangre a 334 gatos de clínicas de Piedecuesta, Floridablanca, Bucaramanga y Girón. Los sueros se analizaron mediante ELISA indirecto del kit ID Screen Toxoplasmosis Indirect Multi species. Mediante una encuesta se obtuvieron datos poblacionales y de manejo para identificar posibles FR. Los resultados se analizaron con prueba de chi cuadrado. Resultados: La prevalencia general de T. gondii fue 14,97%, el resultado por ciudad fue 10,04% Piedecuesta, 10,05% Floridablanca, 15,27% Bucaramanga y 38,70% Girón. Hubo asociaciones estadísticamente significativas entre la seropositividad y variables con resultados OR como albergue 11,67, gatos callejeros 24,95, consumo de comida no comercial 3,52, gatos cazadores 3,82, gatos que defecan en la calle 16,22, limpieza del arenero una vez por semana 5,65 y gatos enteros 5,82. Conclusiones: La seroprevalencia general de T. gondii fue del 14,97% en el área metropolitana de Bucaramanga, y Girón es el municipio con el resultado más alto. Se evidenció las variables asociadas a la presentación y predisposición a infectarse con T. gondii.Background: Toxoplasmosis is transmitted by direct human contact with cat fecal matter, fomites or contaminated food. The sera were analyzed by indirect ELISA of the ID Screen Toxoplasmosis Indirect Multi species kit. Through a survey, population and management data were obtained to identify possible RFs. The results were analyzed with the chi square test. Results: The general prevalence of T. gondii was 14.97%, the result by city was 10.04% Piedecuesta, 10.05% Floridablanca, 15.27% Bucaramanga and 38.70% Girón. There were statistically significant associations between seropositivity and variables with OR results such as shelter 11.67, stray cats 24.95, consumption of non-commercial food 3.52, hunting cats 3.82, cats that defecate in the street 16.22, cleanliness from the litter box once a week 5.65 and whole cats 5.82. Conclusions: The general seroprevalence of T. gondii was 14.97% in the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga, and Girón is the municipality with the highest result.
