The global impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 COVID-19 pandemic was comparable to a war, affecting sleep quality and physical and mental health (1). Studies have shown that health workers have mental health problems even before COVID-19 (2). Objective: To determine the level of stress and emotional burden of health workers and the relationship with the perception of family and social support during the care of patients with COVID-19 in Colombia. Methodology: It was a cross-sectional analytical study. A survey with a scale called: self-applied acute stress EASE was used. 307 health workers participated. Results: The group of women predominated with 63.8%. The average value of the EASE scale was 18 points. None of the cases had a good emotional adjustment. Health workers who indicated that the management of the institution in the event of a possible contagion only managed the test and had to continue working until a positive result was obtained, had 4.28 times the probability of having extreme acute stress (95% CI 1-00-18.1). Discussion: It was identified that in the relationship of family and social support factors that the health worker had and the high level of stress during the pandemic, it was not having changed address, having known relatives or colleagues with COVID -19. Conclusions: The level of stress was related to family and social support factors that the health worker had. And the probability of higher levels of stress was to continue working in the face of a possible contagion.EspecializaciónEspecialista en Medicina FamiliarAgradecimientos 6 Dedicatoria 7 Introducción 20 Planteamiento del Problema 23 Descripción del Problema 23 Justificación 26 Objetivos 28 Objetivo General 28 Objetivo Específicos 28 Marco Referencial 29 Estado del arte 29 Marco Teórico 34 Metodología 42 Tipo de Estudio 42 Recolección de la Información 42 Población de Estudio 42 Criterios de Inclusión y Exclusión 43 Cálculo del Tamaño de Muestra y Tipo de Muestreo 43 Análisis Estadístico 43 Resultados 45 Caracterización de la Población 45 Provisión de Elementos de Protección Personal (EPP) 46 Uso de Elementos de Protección Personal para la Atención de Pacientes con Sospecha de Infección por la COVID-19 47 Difusión y Capacitación de Protocolos 47 Aspectos Positivos Durante la Pandemia 49 Obstáculos a los que se Debió Enfrentar el Profesional de la Salud en la Pandemia por la COVID-19 50 Círculo Familiar y Social 51 Resultados Según el Desarrollo de Objetivos 52 Desarrollo del objetivo N.º 2.
