Phase 1. Extraction of essential oils through steam distillation. Phase 2. Determination of antibacterial activity through diffusion of the agar disc. Phase 3. Determination of the minimum inhibitory concentration through macrodilution in broth. Phase 4. Product effectiveness tests. The results showed antibacterial activity in eucalyptus and rosemary oils against Escherichia coli at concentrations of 100%, 75% and 50%, whereas for S. aureus only orange and eucalyptus oils were effective at concentrations of 75% and 100%, however, eucalyptus oil was the only one with inhibition against Pseudomonas aeruginosa at 100% concentration. It is concluded that the antibacterial activity found in the EO of orange, eucalyptus, myrtle and their by-products such as myrtle gel opens the door for the development of subsequent studies in the search for its application in the cosmetic industry as a viable alternative to the treatment of skin and gastric system related conditions, given the ability to inhibit the growth of S. aureus and E. coli.application/pdf10.1088/1742-6596/1126/1/0120091742-65961742-6588https://repositorio.udes.edu.co/handle/001/3129engJournal of Physics: Conference SeriesRights - Institute of Physics Publishing, 2018info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessAtribución-NoComercial 4.0 Internacional (CC BY-NC 4.0)https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1742-6596/1126/1/012009/pdfAntibacterial activityEssential oilsEucalyptusRosemaryMyrtleOrangeEvaluation of antibacterial activity in essential oils and by-products used in the artisan cosmetic industryArtículo de revistahttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_2df8fbb1Textinfo:eu-repo/semantics/articlehttp://purl.org/redcol/resource_type/ARTinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionhttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85PublicationTHUMBNAILEvaluation of antibacterial activity in essential oils and by-products used in the artisan cosmetic industry.pdf.jpgEvaluation of antibacterial activity in essential oils and by-products used in the artisan cosmetic industry.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg1307https://repositorio.udes.edu.co/bitstreams/410f51a8-9693-4de3-b25f-6afdd694a0b6/downloadf21c65442f39a643d634739f76493214MD54LICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain; charset=utf-859https://repositorio.udes.edu.co/bitstreams/103b8594-0f91-485b-8cbc-bdcaaa23e1c9/download38d94cf55aa1bf2dac1a736ac45c881cMD52ORIGINALEvaluation of antibacterial activity in essential oils and by-products used in the artisan cosmetic industry.pdfEvaluation of antibacterial activity in essential oils and by-products used in the artisan cosmetic industry.pdfapplication/pdf262759https://repositorio.udes.edu.co/bitstreams/20a89b94-4210-43fb-a060-00698e950197/downloadebf11f975bfaf3228fe8c67d536cb1eeMD55TEXTEvaluation of antibacterial activity in essential oils and by-products used in the artisan cosmetic industry.pdf.txtEvaluation of antibacterial activity in essential oils and by-products used in the artisan cosmetic industry.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain16251https://repositorio.udes.edu.co/bitstreams/bc94852f-01f2-4b65-ac40-30a943d3c66e/downloadc292ae970d2b7c6d2943a643f3859c92MD53001/3129oai:repositorio.udes.edu.co:001/31292023-10-12 08:32:44.019https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/Rights - Institute of Physics Publishing, 2018https://repositorio.udes.edu.coRepositorio Universidad de Santandersoporte@metabiblioteca.comTGljZW5jaWEgZGUgUHVibGljYWNpw7NuIFVERVMKRGlyZWN0cmljZXMgZGUgVVNPIHkgQUNDRVNPCgo=
