Summary:Inside of the economic policy in the last government of the country, found the promotion of the exports as engine of economic growth. In this context, its necessary that the regions and the companies face the challenge of the competitiveness by insertion in the world markets. The research arises from the following question: Which products and to which markets does Rionegro export? Which allowed characterization of the exportable offer in the municipality and found relevant information about their potentialities, but, principality, for the assessment of other markets to which these products can be targeted and to find niches that generate the greatest profits. For the development of the research, work was done with 93 companies exporting in the municipality. The study focused on the determination of products, destination, and export volumes, as well as the obstacles and benefits they perceive in this process of internationalization. According to the market analysis, 571 products are exported, ranging from live animals, flowers, vegetables, fruits, coffee, aromatic, processed foods, oil, chemicals, plastics and their manufactures, hides, wood, textiles, footwear, ceramics, glass, metals, machines and appliances, electrical equipment, optical instruments and appliances, photography, watchmaking, surgical medical appliances, hives, brushes, and thermos. The municipality’s exportable offer is wide with products from the primary and secondary sectors and, the companies are developing research and development processes generating added value, the export destinations currently have a destination for 57 countries and 177 cities. With the US as a main partner with share of 13,18%, Ecuador with 6,83%, Canada with 5,45%, the Dominican Republic and Chile both with stake of 4,55% the other countries have a contribution ranging from 4,09% to 0,45%, which makes it possible to see that entrepreneurs are diversifying their markets every time.
