Sin la familia, la sociedad carece del lenguaje del amor, de la principal forjadora de la humanidad; por ello, buscar su bienestar es un deber crucial. En tal sentido, se requiere un acercamiento a su realidad, y en esta tarea la Universidad tiene un papel importante como agente académico y científico en medio de la región. Conscientes de la tarea en torno al desarrollo del llamado núcleo de la sociedad, la Universidad Católica de Oriente realizó el estudio de las familias del Oriente antioqueño, a fin de conocer de manera detallada las estructuras y dinámicas de los grupos familiares, para el diseño de estrategias pastorales acordes con la realidad y que, además, redunden en el bienestar de las mismas.
