In this paper, some factors affecting human nutrition will be discussed, the nutrition situation in Colombia, the importance of nutrition education and its relation to quality of life. It supports the idea that Colombia is currently experiencing a nutrition transition process and the problems it generates can be solved through education, affecting individuals quality of life.La educación constituye una poderosa herramienta que permite mejorar la calidad de vida de los individuos, su papel se hace evidente al proporcionar los conocimientos necesarios para que mediante autonomía, responsabilidad y actitud crítica se realicen las elecciones alimenticias adecuadas que proporcionen bienestar y salud. En este escrito se analizan algunos factores que inciden en la nutrición humana, la situación nutricional en Colombia, la importancia de la educación nutricional y su relación con la calidad de vida.
