description Esta investigación explora la concepción del amor en las obras de Johann Wolfgang von Goethe y Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel como una crítica y superación a la visión del Romanticismo, que predominó en Europa a finales del siglo XVIII y principios del XIX. El Romanticismo, caracterizado por la exaltación de las emociones, el individualismo y una noción idealizada del amor como fuerza irracional e incontrolable, es cuestionado por ambos autores al destacar la importancia de la mediación entre amor y razón para poder tanto alcanzar como enriquecer la experiencia del amor. Muestran que vivir el amor en alguno de los dos extremos, ya sea el de la razón o el del sentimiento desenfrenado, le quita la vitalidad, lo sublime, lo bello y lo importante al amor. Porque el amor es una fuerza reconciliadora fundamental para la vida del ser humano. La investigación se compone de cuatro capítulos: el primero, que ofrece un panorama general de lo que es el amor en el Romanticismo; el segundo, que expone la visión que tiene Goethe sobre el amor; el tercero presenta la concepción del amor en Hegel y, por último, el cuarto capítulo es la unión de ambos autores y su crítica al Romanticismo.

Romanticism, characterized by the exaltation of emotions, individualism and an idealized notion of love as an irrational and uncontrollable force, is questioned by both authors by highlighting the importance of the mediation between love and reason in order to both achieve and enrich the experience of love. They show that living love in either of the two extremes, either that of reason or that of unbridled feeling, takes away the vitality, the sublime, the beautiful and the important from love. For love is a reconciling force fundamental to the life of the human being.
