description A lo largo del tiempo, los libros ilustrados han sido una buena estrategia para mejorar la comprensión lectora y el aprendizaje de vocabulario en estudiantes escolares. Por esta razón, esta investigación-acción se centró en implementar libros ilustrados, una estrategia multimodal a través del aprendizaje basado en proyectos (PBL, por sus siglas en inglés), para mejorar el aprendizaje de vocabulario en estudiantes de quinto grado del colegio público Guillermo Cano Isaza, en Colombia. A pesar de algunos desafíos, como la limitada frecuencia de clases, la baja asistencia de los estudiantes y la falta de práctica contextual del idioma, este proyecto ha demostrado la importancia de integrar la creatividad, la autoexpresión y las actividades de aprendizaje basadas en proyectos en el proceso de aprendizaje de idiomas, especialmente en el aprendizaje de vocabulario. Despite some challenges such as limited class frequency, low student attendance, and lack of contextual language practice, this project has demonstrated the importance of integrating creativity, self-expression, and project-based learning activities into language learning, especially in vocabulary learning.
