Summary: | This book focuses on the manifestation of “tensions” in conferences, panels, discussion groups, exhibitions, reports and videos developed during the III National Meeting of Oral History and Memory: Uses, Constructions and Contributions to Peace, as well as the II District Encounter of Oral History Experiences: Archives, Life Stories, Memories and Identities. Tensions correspond to the understanding of opposing perspectives on a concept, opposing points of view about an explanation, opposing alternatives to comprehend an event, approaches that are closer to one extreme or another and both fluctuate until they meet each other at some point. Tensions are an opportunity to have a glimpse on how concepts and notions that become visible, obscure or confused, are understood. The voice of the presenters is always present since it is a commitment that translates into respect for those who made this reflection possible. In addition, it was them who situated, once again, the debate on the topics specified in the call in the light of theoretical and methodological understandings. The perspective of encounter indicates the possibility to share, reflect on, recognize and open the doors to a permanent dynamic in these crucial issues of our society; in this case, to participate in the debate regarding the role of memory, as well as the history that is investigated and the history that is taught at a time when the country faces the demand for compliance with the “Agreement to end the armed conflict and build a stable and lasting peace,” signed between the State and the insurgency of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia—People’s Army (FARC-EP). We grasp the character of encounter from different voices intertwined In the opportunity to construct historical and political sense based on the idea that history is permanently constructed. |
