On the other hand, is the material aspect, substantial or axiological, which expresses the most important protection a constitution: human rights and dignity of the person. Both aspects are vital for proper constitutional task.La supremacía constitucional posee en su naturaleza dos vertientes que explican su funcionamiento. Por una parte está el aspecto formal, sin el cual carecería —en buena medida— de fuerza y exigibilidad. Hoy en día este aspecto se ha visto mermado, pues la supremacía del texto constitucional en aquellos sistemas donde existen bloques de constitucionalidad es compartida con otros ordenamientos, tal es el caso de los tratados internacionales de derechos humanos. Por otra parte, está el aspecto material, sustancial o axiológico, el cual expresa lo más importante que tutela una Constitución: los derechos humanos y la dignidad de la persona.
