Por lo general se presenta en pacientes con alteraciones neurológicas. La evaluación de la deglución se realiza mediante nasofibrolaringoscopia (FEES); Su principal complicación es la neumonía aspirativa, sin embargo no hay evidencia sobre el riesgo de esta asociada con los principales hallazgos de la FEES, por tal motivo realizamos un estudio de cohorte con 148 pacientes en riesgo de disfagia a los cuales se les realizo la FEES con diferentes consistencias.
