A pesar de que las dos series son creadas y supervisadas por Michael Schur, cada serie presenta mundos distintos, con estrategias de representación casi opuestas. Por esta razón, este análisis pretende establecer la incidencia de los elementos de la representación audiovisual en la impresión de realidad de estos contenidos. Para ello, se hace un estudio detallado de las secuencias iniciales de los primeros seis capítulos de cada serie a partir de un conjunto de instrumentos creados usando variables propuestas por autores como Casetti & Di Chio (1990) y ampliadas por Gómez Tarín (2010).
