Description
Summary:It is an accepted truism among society and Communications professionals – in all areas of the media – that the latter wield a certain authority through the exercise of their profession. Being part of a profession implies a kind of social and institutional recognition afforded to those who manage a specific knowledge -how for the common good of society. From an epistemological perspective, it is important to consider the assumption that communication professionals do have a specific knowledge: that is, a type of authority over others, and to ask ourselves where its basis lies and how that authority is wielded.
