El objeto del presente trabajo fue describir los factores relevantes a los viudos homosexuales, y la manera en la que el apoyo social es básico para que ellos resuelvan el duelo de manera funcional. Se encontró que la falta de reconocimiento de las parejas homosexuales en general y del estatus de un hombre homosexual como un viudo, complica el proceso del duelo.
