Algunos reportes describen su relación con Hipertensión pulmonar (HTP); sin embargo, se desconoce su prevalencia. No hay estudios a grandes alturas que establezcan la relación entre SAHOS e HTP. El objetivo del presente estudio fue establecer la prevalencia de HTP en niños con diagnóstico de SAHOS residentes en Bogotá 2.640 metros sobre el nivel del mar (msnm). Métodos: Se incluyeron 55 niños entre los 2 a los 16 años de edad remitidos al Laboratorio de sueño de la Fundación Neumológica Colombiana (2630 msnm) con polisomnograma (PSG) positivo para SAHOS a quienes se les realizó ecocardiograma transtorácico para evaluar la presencia de HTP. Se analizaron variables demográficas, patrón respiratorio, SpO2 y parámetros ecocardiográficos. Para el análisis estadístico se usaron medianas, rango intercuartil (RIC), prueba de Ji-cuadrado y prueba de Kruskall-Wallis para diferencia entre grupos. Resultados: De los 55 pacientes (n: 55), 63.6% eran de sexo masculino, con una mediana de edad de 6 años, 14 niños (25.5%) con sobrepeso, 6 (10.9%) tenían obesidad y 1 (1.8%) obesidad mórbida; 12 niños (21.8%) presentaron SAHOS leve, 12 (21.8%) SAHOS moderado y 31 (56.4%) SAHOS severo. Índice de apneahipopnea total (IAH): 11(6-24), apnea-hipopnea obstructiva (IAHO): 7(4-15).
