description This article aims to study the writing process of Manuel Puig’s novel Kiss of the Spider Woman (1976) from his Mexican exile perspective. The archival turn and gender studies are implemented here in order to reflect on the construction of the homosexual voice in the novel from the traces in the author’s papers. We are interested in analyzing the way in which Puig —during his joint work with lesbian activist Nancy Cárdenas— appropriates both the play The Boys in the Band by Mart Crowley, and some theoretical sources from the homosexual militancy groups of the 1970s. This work reveals the way in which these productions influenced both the dialogic technique and the construction of the homosexual voice.

Se presenta una metodología interdisciplinar que combina aportes de los estudios de genética textual, trabajo con archivos de escritor y estudios de género, con el fin de reflexionar acerca de la construcción de la voz homosexual en la novela, a partir de las huellas materiales presentes en los papeles del escritor. Nos interesa analizar el modo en el que Puig —durante su trabajo con la activista lesbiana Nancy Cárdenas— se apropia, tanto de la obra teatral The Boys in the Band de Mart Crowley, como de algunas fuentes teóricas de los grupos de militancia homosexual de los años setenta. El trabajo permite develar el influjo de estas producciones en la técnica dialógica y en la construcción de la voz homosexual.O presente artigo propõe-se estudar o processo escritural do romance O beijo da Mulher Aranha (1976) do Manuel Puig no contexto do seu exílio mexicano.
