description School time is a structuring element of the school experience that gives meaning. This bibliographic review presents the results of various research studies associated with the categories of school time and the single school day. Initially, the school time category is studied as a structuring element of school organization and its subjectivity. The increase in research on this subject in Latin America is described and the main problems addressed are enunciated. Likewise, the perspective of school time as a determining factor in academic results in relation to educational quality is presented. In addition, there are qualitative studies that investigate the perception of school actors regarding the implementation of the single school day policy. There is a tendency for studies related to the objective of educational quality and the school day; however, there are other perspectives that have been little explored and are gaining importance, such as school time from a pedagogical point of view.

Esta revisión bibliográfica presenta los resultados de diversas investigaciones asociadas a las categorías tiempo escolar y jornada única. Inicialmente, se estudia la categoría tiempo escolar, elemento estructurante de la organización escolar y su subjetividad. Se describe el incremento de investigaciones al respecto en Latinoamérica y se enuncian los principales problemas abordados. Asimismo, se presenta la perspectiva del tiempo escolar como factor determinante en los resultados académicos en relación con la calidad educativa. Se suman estudios de corte cualitativo que indagan sobre la percepción de los actores de la escuela respecto de la implementación de la política de jornada única. Son tendencia estudios relacionados con el objetivo de calidad educativa y jornada escolar, sin embargo, existen otras perspectivas poco exploradas que cobran importancia como el tiempo de la escuela desde una mirada pedagógica.O tempo escolar é um elemento estruturante da experiência escolar que dá sentido. Esta revisão bibliográfica apresenta os resultados de vários estudos de investigação associados às categorias de tempo escolar e ao único dia escolar. Inicialmente, a categoria do tempo escolar é estudada como um elemento estruturante da organização escolar e da sua subjectividade. Descreve o aumento da investigação sobre o tema na América Latina e expõe os principais problemas abordados. Também apresenta a perspectiva do tempo escolar como um factor determinante nos resultados académicos em relação à qualidade educativa. Além disso, existem estudos qualitativos que investigam as percepções dos actores escolares relativamente à implementação da política do dia único escolar.
