The judgment of the Constitutional Court on the Guatemala case seems to have settled this controversy to a certain extent by recognizing the competence of the Spanish jurisdiction to prosecute universal crimes.En los últimos tiempos, sobretodo a raíz del caso Pinochet, la diversa interpretación del principio de la jurisdicción universal ha enfrentado un continuo enfrentamiento, no sólo a la doctrina, sino a los tribunales españoles. La sentencia del Tribunal Cons titucional sobre el caso Guatemala parece que haya zanjado en cierta medida esta polémica al reconocer la competencia de la jurisdicción española para perseguir los crímenes universales.Nos últimos tempos, especialmente como resultado do caso Pinochet, a interpretação diversa do princípio da jurisdição universal tem enfrentado confronto contínuo, não só com a doutrina, mas também com os tribunais espanhóis.
