The chosen source is the press, a privileged environment of the political debate. The focus was put on the study of El Paraguayo Independiente, the first newspaper of Paraguay which was created during the government of Carlos Antonio López in 1845. Its principal writer was the Paraguayan president himself. The initial difficulty of defining the concept of Independence in Paraguay was a relevant part of the diplomatic conflicts with its neighbors and of the antecedents to the great war. El presente trabajo propone analizar los conceptos políticos y representaciones desplegados en torno a la búsqueda del reconocimiento de la independencia de Paraguay por parte de la Confederación Argentina. La fuente elegida es la prensa, ámbito privilegiado del debate político. Nos concentraremos en el estudio de El Paraguayo Independiente, primer periódico de Paraguay que fue creado durante el gobierno de Carlos Antonio López en 1845. Su redactor principal fue el mismo presidente paraguayo. La dificultad inicial de definir el concepto Independencia en Paraguay fue una parte relevante de los conflictos diplomáticos con sus vecinos y los antecedentes de la gran guerra.Cet article se propose d’analyser les concetps et les réprésentations mis en oeuvre dans la quête de reconnaissance de l’indépendence du Paraguay la Confédération Argentine. La source visée c’est la presse, lieu par excellence du débatpolitique. On se concentre sur El Paraguayo Independiente, premier journal du Paraguay créé pendent le gouvernement de Carlos Antonio López en 1845. Son rédacteur en chef a été le président López lui-même.
