Based on this analysis, the article arguing in favor of repeating memory studies, placing special emphasis on three points that can guide the future of memory studies in Latin America: memories and inequalities, the study of (non) memory in its two edges of oblivion and silence, as well as the transregional dynamics of memory. The article closes with some reflections on the importance of memory and the specifics of the success of a memory policy. In this part, the article argues that the field of memory will always be controversial and that only these disputes can change memory to stay alive.El artículo discute los desarrollos recientes de los estudios de memoria al inicio del siglo XX y las dinámicas recientes en las políticas de memoria y en la cultura memorialística de América Latina. Basándose en este análisis, el artículo argumenta en favor de repensar los estudios de memoria, poniendo especial énfasis en tres puntos que puedan guiar el futuro de los estudios de memoria en América Latina: memorias y desigualdades, el estudio de la (no-)memoria en sus dos aristas del olvido y del silencio, así como las dinámicas transregionales de la memoria. El artículo cierra con unas reflexiones sobre la importancia de la memoria y los estándares del éxito de una política de memoria.
