Legal references are presented where the participation of the institutions is included as the main axis in the realization and execution of said projects. It is also emphasized that in the exercise as teachers of the area of natural sciences environmental education is developed according to guidelines such as the application of an environmental approach, a transversality articulated with educational projects, environmental committees, and communication and environmental educa- tion competencies.La educación ambiental es un proceso de formación que permite la toma de conciencia frente a la conservación del medio ambiente donde se promuevan valores y actitudes positivas que contribuyan al uso racional de los recursos naturales. En el presente artículo se proyectan algunos referentes conceptuales sobre educación ambiental y de cómo esta puede ser fortalecida por medio del aprendizaje y la didáctica de la enseñanza. Se presentan unos referentes legales en donde se incluye la participación de las instituciones como eje principal en la realización y ejecución de dichos proyectos.
