It is a documentary research, with a descriptive approach and with no experimental design. The results of the study show that effectively the priorities defined in the international summits, the national policies established in Mexico and the environmental policies determined in the University of Guanajuato are aligned, however, there are several challenges that need to be overcome in order to advance towards the development of a University Social Responsibility. The main challenge is the change of culture to adopt environmental care practices, in addition to the need to recognize the efforts that people make continuously in their work for the benefit of the university community. Códigos JEL: I23, L2, M14, Q01 Received: 11/06/2020.  Accepted: 28/04/2020.  Published: 24/05/2020. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar cómo la Universidad de Guanajuato en México, ha adoptado políticas ambientales alineándose con la normativa nacional e internacional en esta materia. Se trata de una investigación documental, con enfoque descriptivo y con diseño no experimental. Los resultados del estudio arrojan que efectivamente las prioridades definidas en las cumbres internacionales, las políticas nacionales establecidas en México y las políticas ambientales determinadas en la Universidad de Guanajuato se encuentran alineadas, no obstante, se identifican diversos retos que es necesario sortear para avanzar hacia el desarrollo de una Responsabilidad Social Universitaria. El principal reto es el cambio de la cultura para adoptar prácticas de cuidado ambiental, además de la necesidad de reconocer los esfuerzos que las personas hacen continuamente en su trabajo en beneficio de la comunidad universitaria.
