For this purpose, questionnaires were applied to evaluate adherence and alcohol and cigarette consumption; it was found that the substance with the highest consumption is alcohol followed by cigarettes, where the participants obtained a low consumption of these substances. The results showed that there is a statistically significant bilateral positive correlation at the .003 level between adherence to traditional masculinity roles and alcohol consumption.

Es así que, en las últimas décadas se han desarrollado diversas investigaciones dirigidas estudiar la relación entre el consumo de alcohol y la conducta machista considerándose como un factor de riesgo para la violencia de género y violencia intrafamiliar; puesto que, los estereotipos establecidos culturalmente promueven la dominación de los hombres quienes requieren de recursos de autoridad aceptados socialmente para lograr la subordinación de las mujeres, donde los hombres tienen una posición superior y deben cumplir con las obligaciones sociales de ser masculino. En este estudio, se determinó la influencia del nivel de adherencia a los roles tradicionales de masculinidad en el consumo de sustancias psicoactivas (SPA) en 600 participantes de género masculino con edades comprendidas entre los 18 y 65 años, residentes en la ciudad de Tunja Boyacá. Para lo cual, se aplicaron cuestionarios para evaluar la adherencia y el consumo de alcohol y cigarrillo; hallándose que la sustancia de mayor consumo es el alcohol seguida por el cigarrillo, donde los participantes obtuvieron un consumo bajo en dichas sustancias. Los resultados arrojaron que existe una correlación positiva estadísticamente significativa bilateral en el nivel .003 entre la adherencia a los roles tradicionales de la masculinidad y el consumo de alcohol.Neste estudo, a influência do nível de adesão aos papéis tradicionais de masculinidade no consumo de substâncias psicoativas (SPA) foi determinada em 600 participantes do sexo masculino com idade entre 18 e 65 anos, residentes na cidade de Tunja Boyacá. Foram aplicados questionários para avaliar a adesão e o consumo de álcool e cigarros; constatou-se que a substância com o maior consumo é o álcool, seguido pelo cigarro, onde os participantes obtiveram um baixo consumo dessas substâncias.
