A conceptual analysis of the investigation seedbed is made and after the progress of the program in this matter is evidenced. Finally, there are some challenges to be addressed in the immediate future, taking into account the investigative dynamics of higher education and the regional and national educational contexts, in which the teachers in training are part of the groups of seedbed perform.Este artículo de reflexión se centra en el tema de la formación investigativa median- te la modalidad de semilleros de investigación, en el programa de Licenciatura en Educación Básica con énfasis en Matemáticas, Humanidades y Lengua Castellana, de la Facultad de Estudios a Distancia de la UPTC. Se hace un análisis conceptual de los semilleros de investigación y posteriormente se evidencian los avances del programa en esta materia.
