Description
Summary:The defense of water and of the territory in the Sumapaz river basin is manifested as an expression of community resilience, to the extent that it demonstrates the appropriation that communities have of water and socio-environmental conflicts in their territory; situation that manages to empower them as agents of change. Therefore, the main objective of this article is to analyze the water defense processes that occurred in the Sumapaz river basin in the period between 2012 and 2017, in relation to oil exploitation and hydroelectric power generation projects; from community resilience. The methodology was based on the documentary review of historical context and recent events and the application of semi-structured interviews to key actors. The research showed the existence of a collective self-esteem, a social cohesion and a cultural identity as fundamental pillars that intertwine and support community resilience in the basin territory.
