Then, a historical summary of the industrial localization is exposed, in a process that confirms the forces of accumulative causation in the manufacturing development. An empirical exercise is also performed in order to estimate the influence of inter or intra industrial spillovers, and the mutual complementarities of manufacturing between regions are stressed. Finally, it concludes the importance of complementarities among departments and the role of each one of them in drawing a national industrial cartography.El artículo pretende analizar las características de la especialización industrial en los departamentos del centro oriente colombiano, partiendo de un conjunto de consideraciones teóricas sobre la aglomeración industrial. Se expone una revisión histórica del emplazamiento industrial en la región, para confirmar la fuerza que adquieren los procesos de causación acumulativa.
