The objective is to show how men and women inhabit and signify the city in different ways and to understand how they simultaneously form part of both the social construction of the urban space and the social construction of the genre. Forwhich a review of academic articles, research, books and working documents is made from the nineties to the present. Organizational theoretical concepts, thematic cores and research problems are identified, as well as challenges and horizons for the construction of a feminist urban geography in the region.Este artículo ofrece una revisión de los principales aportes en la producción teórica e investigativa urbana desde una perspectiva de género y feminista en América Latina. El objetivo es poner en evidencia cómo hombres y mujeres habitan y significan la ciudad de formas diferentes y comprender cómo forman parte simultáneamente tanto de la construcción social del espacio urbano como de la construcción social del género. Para esto se realizó una revisión de artículos académicos, investigaciones, libros y documentos de trabajo desde la década de los años noventa hasta la actualidad. Se identificaron conceptos teóricos organizadores, núcleos temáticos y problemas de investigación; asimismo, se proponen desafíos y horizontes para la construcción de una geografía urbana feminista en la región.Este artigo oferece uma revisão das principais contribuições na produção de pesquisa teórica e urbana a partir de uma perspectiva de gênero e feminista na América Latina. O objetivo é mostrar como homens e mulheres habitam e significam a cidade de maneiras diferentes e compreendem como elas fazem parte simultaneamente da construção social do espaço urbano e da construção social do gênero. Para o qual uma revisão de artigos acadêmicos, pesquisas, livros e documentos de trabalho é feita a partir da década de 90 para o presente.
