It was performed from a quantitative approach, with a descriptive method, without sampling since the instrument was applied to all students enrolled for that period in the selected semesters. It was concluded that knowledge of the legal system and constitutional principles does change the position regarding the consideration of life imprisonment as a viable ban in Colombia.Este proyecto presenta un análisis de las percepciones de estudiantes de Derecho que cursaban el primer y el último semestre de su formación profesional durante el segundo semestre del 2021 sobre la cadena perpetua como sanción para el delito de abuso sexual a menores de edad, con el fin de comparar las posturas frente a este tipo de condenas en relación con su formación jurídica. El enfoque fue cuantitativo, con método descriptivo, sin muestreo, ya que se aplicó el instrumento a la totalidad de los estudiantes matriculados para ese periodo en los semestres seleccionados.
