Objective. To establish the effect of morphometric and productive measures on reproductive parameters: a number of calvings and calving interval in Romosinuano (ROMO) and Costeño con Cuernos (CCC) females under agro-climatic conditions of the Colombian humid Caribbean. The following morphometric measurements were taken: ischial width (ADI), hip width (ADC), sacral height (ADS), withers height (ADLC), as well as live weight, first calving weight (PPP), last calving weight (PUP), body condition (CC), and reproductive parameters such as the number of calvings and calving intervals (IEP). Differences between morphometric and reproductive parameters by breed were established by analysis of variance. Relationships between morphometric and reproductive variables were analyzed through canonical correlations. Results. The analysis of variance showed statistically significant differences (p<0.05) between morphometric measurements and live weight by breed. The study of canonical correlations allowed the establishment ADI, ADLC, PPP, and PUP as the canonical variables significantly essential and have a significant relationship with the number of calvings. Conclusion. Weight and PUP are the variables with the greatest effect on the reproductive parameters evaluated in Romosinuano and Costeño con Cuerno cows. |

Establecer el efecto de las medidas morfométricas y productivas sobre los parámetros reproductivos: número de partos e intervalo entre partos en hembras Romosinuano (ROMO) y Costeño con Cuernos (CCC) bajo las condiciones agroclimáticas del Caribe húmedo colombiano. Materiales y métodos. Se utilizaron 408 vacas entre las razas ROMO (250) y CCC (158) se tomaron las medidas morfométricas de: amplitud del isquion (ADI), amplitud de cadera (ADC), altura del sacro (ADS), altura de la cruz (ADLC), así como el peso vivo, peso primer parto (PPP), peso último parto (PUP), condición corporal (CC), y los parámetros reproductivos como el número de partos e intervalos entre partos (IEP). Las diferencias entre los parámetros morfométricos y reproductivos por raza se establecieron por análisis de varianza. Las relaciones entre las variables morfométricas y reproductivas se analizaron a través correlaciones canónicas. Resultados. El análisis de varianza mostró diferencias estadísticamente significativas (p<0.05) entre las medidas morfométricas y peso vivo por raza. El análisis de correlaciones canónicas permitió establecer a ADI, ADLC, PPP y PUP como las variables canónicas significativamente importantes y tienen relación significativa con el número de partos. Conclusión.
