The article –from a life history perspective– aims to recreate her life and work, as an integral teacher. Her deeply humanistic educational approaches characterized her as a defender of human rights, especially peace and women's rights. His career demonstrated an articulation between praxis and theory, in the line of Orlando Fals Borda of Participatory Research-Action. The article explores several of his academic contributions on economic and sociological issues, as well as his life experience of struggles that led to contradictions, which he came out with and left his mark. The defense of human rights, education for peace, impeccable ethics and responsibility management were emblems of his exemplary life. Unfortunately, a surprising illness caused his death on August 20, 2020 in the midst of the most virulent pandemic that humanity has suffered in the last century. In memoriam.La profesora Nilce Ariza Barbosa desarrolló una gran tarea pedagógica a favor de las comunidades más abandonadas. El artículo –desde una óptica de historia de vida– pretende recrear su vida y su obra, como una maestra integral. Sus enfoques educativos profundamente humanistas la caracterizaron como una defensora de derechos humanos, en especial de la paz y los derechos de la mujer. Su trayectoria demostró una articulación entre la praxis y la teoría, en la línea de Orlando Fals Borda de Investigación-Acción Participativa. El artículo explora varios de sus aportes académicos en el tema económico y sociológico, así como su experiencia vital de luchas que le valieron contradicciones de las cuales salió airosa y dejó huella. La defensa de los derechos humanos, la educación para la paz, la ética impecable como manejo de la responsabilidad fueron emblemas de su vida ejemplar. Desgraciadamente, una sorpresiva enfermedad le produjo su muerte el 20 de agosto de 2020 en medio de la más virulenta pandemia que haya sufrido la humanidad en el último siglo.
