To contain  inflation in all countries, including Colombia, central banks have used a contractionary monetary policy. In the case of the United States, the Federal Reserve has been increasing interest rates, which has allowed the strengthening of the dollar against the euro and other currencies of developed countries, and some currencies of developing countries such as Colombia. This situation has allowed financial investors to prefer to demand more dollars because it provides them with higher profitability.La economía mundial atraviesa por un momento complejo, que puede llevar a una recesión económica acompañada de una alta y duradera inflación con repercusiones en la actividad económica en términos generales. Para contener la inflación en todos los países, incluido Colombia, los bancos centrales han utilizado una política monetaria contraccionista. En el caso de Estados Unidos, la Reserva Federal ha venido incrementando las tasas de interés, lo que ha permitido que el dólar se vigorice en comparación con el euro y otras monedas de países desarrollados, y de algunas monedas de países en vías de desarrollo como Colombia.
