The main manifestations of culture, such as: myths, tales, chants, wisdom and values are all expressed through language. The wayúu culture has its own system of norms that is applied by a single character, named pütchipü’üi. This character, whose origins are found in the mythical world of the wayúu culture, is responsible for the proper and reliable use of words in his society; a symbol of perlocutionary nature for the wayúu, especially when dealing with conflictive situations. The means in which the word is materialized is the wayúunaiki language, a fully alive linguistic system. Our purpose is to highlight this particular aspect of the wayúu culture, which is usually ignored in the national scope of linguistic studies. We also wish to demonstrate that the word is a key pillar in the normative system of the wayúu. |

Las principales manifestaciones de la cultura: mitos, relatos, cantos, saberes, valores emplean como medio de expresión la palabra. El sistema de normas de los wayúu es aplicado por un personaje, originado en lo mítico de la etnia, el pütchipü'üi. Su valía está sustentada en el manejo responsable y serio de la palabra. Un símbolo que para los wayúu tiene carácter perlocutivo en todas las situaciones de la vida, máxime en las situaciones conflictivas. El medio en que se materializa la palabra es la lengua wayúunaiki, un sistema lingüístico que está en plena vitalidad. Nuestro propósito es visibilizar este aspecto de la cultura wayúu, desconocida en ámbito nacional; además, demostrar que la palabra es pilar clave en el sistema normativo wayúu.Les principales manifestations de la culture : des mythes, des récits, des chants, des savoirs, des valeurs ; tous ceux-ci emploient la parole comme moyen d’expression. Le système de normes des Wayúu est appliqué par un personnage dont l’origine est le mythique de l’ethnie, le pütchipü’üi . Sa valeur est soutenue dans la maîtrise responsable et sérieuse de la parole. Un symbole pour les Wayúu a un caractère perlocutoire dans toutes les situations de la vie, d’autant plus dans les situations conflictuelles. Le milieu où la parole se matérialise est la langue wayúunaiki, un système linguistique qui est en pleine vitalité. Notre propos est celui de faire visible cet aspect de la culture wayúu, méconnue dans le territoire national ; en plus, on voudrait démontrer que la parole est le pilier clé dans lesystème normatif wayúu.As principais manifestações da cultura: mitos, histórias, canções, conhecimentos, valores utilizados como um meio de expressão da palavra. O sistema de regras do Wayuu é aplicado por um personagem, teve origem na etnia mítico, Pütchipü’üi. Seu valor é su- portado pela gestão responsável e séria da palavra. Um símbolo para o Wayuu tem caráter perlocucionário em todas as situações da vida, especialmente em situações de conflito. O meio em que a palavra é materializada é a língua Wayuunaiki, um sistema linguístico em plena vitalidade.
