The purpose of this paper is to highlight both, the validity and importance of traditional literature, in the creation of the diverse imaginary worlds offered by contemporary literature for young people. To this end, some of the topics and motifs of traditional literature, that weave the story of Harry Potter are analyzed. The focus is specifically on making an exhaustive comparative review on the appearance of the fatality of death, and the figure of "the unnamable" in traditional stories compiled by Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm and published in the first edition of Kinder- und Hausmärchen. By relating the stories of the Grimm brothers with some intradiegetic tales of the Harry Potter saga, it is evident how some stories are adapted from mythological tales and updated to a contemporary magical universe. |

Para ello, se analizan algunos de los tópicos y motivos de la literatura tradicional que se entretejen en la historia de Harry Potter, específicamente, la atención se focaliza en hacer una revisión comparativa exhaustiva de la aparición de la fatalidad de la muerte y la figura de “el innombrable” en relatos tradicionales recopilados por Wilhelm y Jacob Grimm, y publicados en la primera edición de Kinder- und Hausmärchen. Al relacionar las historias de los hermanos Grimm con algunos relatos intradiegéticos de la saga de Harry Potter, se evidencia la manera en cómo se adaptan algunos relatos que parten de lo mitológico y se actualizan a un universo mágico contemporáneo.O objetivo deste artigo de reflexão é realçar a validade e a importância da literatura tradicional na criação dos diversos mundos imaginários oferecidos pela literatura contemporânea para os jovens. São analisados alguns dos temas e motivos da literatura tradicional que tecem a história de Harry Potter. Especificamente, o foco é uma revisão comparativa exaustiva do aparecimento da inevitabilidade da morte e da figura do "inominável" nas histórias tradicionais compiladas por Wilhelm e Jacob Grimm e publicadas na primeira edição de Kinder- und Hausmärchen.
