Since then, in the capital of Intendencia of Meta, under a unique cultural context in the Orinoco region, particular forms of violence and the exertion of regional policy were presented, which were characterized by: state weakness, political control of a local elite, struggle for local power and exclusion of popular sectors. This paper shows then the above aspects in order to provide the construction of a not depleted historiography of the Colombian violence.El gaitanismo y la política que se desarrolló en Colombia durante los años de 1946 a 1948, afectó directamente, a pesar de su aislamiento geográfico con el centro del país, a la ciudad de Villavicencio. Bajo un contexto cultural propio de la región de la Orinoquía, la capital de la entonces Intendencia del Meta, se dio unas particulares formas de Violencia y ejercicio de la política regional caracterizada por: debilidad estatal, control político de una élite local, lucha por el poder local y exclusión de los sectores populares.
