description The article aims at reflecting on the assessment practice. Therefore, it deals with an experience with students of the University of Boyaca Graphic Design program, in which their perception on assessment is explored. It is paramount to think of an assessment culture aiming at a true quality education articulated to innovation in pedagogical practices. It is of first importance to leave aside those measurements that do not account for cognitive processes developed by every person on the basis of his/her own learning experience. This research found out that in the case of Graphic Design, assessment is subjective, since teachers are given all the power to argue from their own interpretation of a visual reality which may differ from the perception and meaning every person gives to it. Then, positions by some teachers of the program about this topic are presented. Finally, the article states some conclusions arising from that reflection.

Para ello se aborda una experiencia con estudiantes universitarios del programa de diseño gráfico de la Universidad de Boyacá, donde se indaga acerca de la percepción que tienen sobre la evaluación. Es vital pensar en una cultura evaluativa que busque una verdadera calidad en la educación y que se articule con la innovación en las prácticas pedagógicas. Es prioritario dejar de lado las mediciones que no dan cuenta de los procesos cognitivos que desarrolla cada ser humano a partir de su propia experiencia de aprendizaje. En la presente investigación se encontró que para el diseño gráfico la evaluación es subjetiva, otorgándole el poder al maestro de generar argumentos desde su propia interpretación de una realidad visual, que puede diferir con la percepción y el significado que cada individuo le otorga a una imagen. Posteriormente se presentan algunas posturas de los docentes del programa acerca de este tema. El texto finaliza con algunas conclusiones que suscita dicha reflexión. L’objectif de ce texte est de réfléchir sur la pratique de l’évaluation. Pour ce faire on aborde une expérience avec des étudiants universitaires du programme de design graphique de l’Université de Boyacá, où l’on fait des recherches au sujet de leur perception de l’évaluation. Il est vital de penser à une culture d’évaluation qui recherche une véritable qualité de l’éducation et qui s’articule avec l’innovation dans les pratiques pédagogiques. Il importe de laisser de côté les mesures qui ne rendent pas compte des processus cognitifs développés par chaque être humain au moyen de sa propre expérience d’apprentissage. Dans la présente recherche, l’on a constaté qu’en ce qui concerne le design graphique l’évaluation est subjective, conférant, au maître, le pouvoir de générer des arguments à partir de sa propre interprétation d’une réalité visuelle, qui peut être différente selon la perception et la signification que chaque individu attribue à une image. Ultérieurement, quelques points de vue d’enseignants du programme, se référant au thème, ont été présentés.
