The goal of this paper is to explain one of his three critical coordinates, which I have called “psychology of poetic creation: ontogenesis of literary talent”. The remainingcoor - dinates are his philosophy of history and his interpretation of different kinds of realism; briefly described in the text.La obra crítica de Jaime Mejía Duque (1933-2009) no se ha sometido a una lectura que reconstruya sus posiciones teóricas y permita una evaluación de la validez e interés de sus aportes al campo de la crítica literaria colombiana y latinoamericana. El propósito de este trabajo es reconstruir una de las tres coordenadas principales de su obra crítica. La he denominado “sicología de la creación poética: ontogénesis del talento literario”. Las otras dos coordenadas corresponden a su filosofía de la historia y a su interpretación de los distintos realismos.
