Summary:This article is derived from a research conducted in order to obtain a Master’s Degree in Education at the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional, called El oficial educador en la primera mitad del siglo XX en Colombia. Discursos que configuran su práctica pedagógica (The officer/educator in the first half of the twentieth century. Speeches making up his pedagogical practice). Such research presents an analysis of the speeches on education that circulated among military schools during the first half of the twentieth century, as well as the pedagogical practices developed by the subject called officer/educator in teaching. On this occasion, it is considered relevant to share the section of the research related to the emergence of the military pedagogy in Colombia, given that it is a contribution to the history of pedagogy and because it fosters a reflection on the forces that come into play when shaping a way of teaching and some school practices that are not only functional in the military field but also in public education.
