This work has the objective of carrying out a critical review of the historical-scholarly activity of the Cabinet des chartes. Created in the mid-18th century, this institution represents a clear example of osmosis between politics and historical learning. In a context marked by the dispute between the monarchy and the parliaments, the study of the Cabinet des chartes represents a strategic access point to the field of historiographic reflection, which in turn allows us to illustrate the way in which the research activity is contingent on the creation of a unified body of law, itself the result of a compilation of documents conducted by this institution. This article puts forward an analysis of the lines of investigation and the ideological concerns of the Cabinet. For this, it is necessary to carry out a critical analysis of the documental sources found throughout this activity, making special emphasis on those aspects that indicate the struggle of the monarchical institution for the accumulation of symbolic capital. Finally, the text reflects upon the imprint that this archivistic activity has left for the classificatory frameworks of French historiography of the late 19th century. |

Creada en la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII, esta institución representa un claro ejemplo de ósmosis entre la política y la erudición histórica. En un contexto marcado por la disputa entre la monarquía y los parlamentos, el estudio del Cabinet des chartes representa un acceso estratégico al campo de la reflexión historiográfica, al tiempo que nos permite ilustrar el modo en que la actividad investigadora queda supeditada a la constitución de un cuerpo unificado de derecho, producto él mismo de la compilación documental ejecutada por dicha institución. Lo que plantea este artículo es un análisis de las líneas de investigación y las preocupaciones ideológicas del Cabinet. Para lo cual es preciso realizar un análisis crítico de las fuentes documentales generadas en el transcurso de su actividad, haciendo especial hincapié en aquellos aspectos que más dejan entrever la lucha de la institución monárquica por la acumulación de capital simbólico. Por último, el texto reflexiona sobre los efectos que esta archivística ha legado para los marcos clasificatorios de la historiografía francesa de finales del siglo XIX.Ce travail entreprend une révision critique de l’activitéhistorico-érudite du Cabinet des chartes. Crée dans ladeuxième moitié du XVIIIe siècle, cette institution représente un clair exemple d’osmose entre la politique et l’érudition historique. Dans un contexte marqué par la dispute entre la monarchie et les parlements, le Cabinet des chartes représente un accès stratégique au champ de la réflexion historique, et nous permet en même temps d’éclairer la manière dont l’activité de recherche est tributaire de la constitution d’un corps unifié de droit qui est lui-même le produit de la compilation documentaire entreprise par ladite institution. Cet article propose donc une analyse des lignes de recherche et des préoccupations idéologiques du Cabinet. D’où l’analyse critique des sources documentaires générées au cours de son activité, et notre insistance sur les aspects qui permettent d’entrevoir le mieux la lutte de l’institution monarchique pour accumuler du capital symbolique.
