description This reflection article shows a general perspective of the society cotemporary man is immersed in. On the one hand, it was used a historical methodology in order to provide a global perspective of the different studied facts throughout time, on the other hand, a descriptive one was applied in order to give an answer to the effects in the post capitalist society. The analysis carried out demonstrates the importance of work within education and pedagogy in the XXI century as well as its consequences. Such effects affect knowledge in, at least, three stages: genealogically, where reflection origins take shape, another one, when showing the innovations of society which is highly influenced by global capitalistic technology, and finally, when displaying the changes that happen in society. As a conclusion, it is answered the question: ‘Is the information society a knowledge society?’

La metodología utilizada fue en primer lugar histórica para ofrecer una visión panorámica de los diferentes hechos a lo largo del tiempo, y segundo, descriptiva, para responder a los efectos en la sociedad postcapitalista. El análisis evidencia la importancia del trabajo en la educación y la pedagogía en el siglo XXI cuyas consecuencias afectan al conocimiento, por lo menos, en tres momentos: uno genealógico, que es donde se configuran los orígenes de la reflexión, otro, mostrando las novedades de la sociedad porque está muy influenciada por la tecnología capitalista globalizada, y por último, mostrando los cambios en la sociedad. Como conclusión se responderá a la pregunta, ¿es la Sociedad de la Información una Sociedad del Conocimiento?  Cet article de réflexion montre une perspective générale de la société dans laquelle l’homme contemporain est submergé. La méthodologie utilisée, en premier lieu, a été historique afin d’offrir une vue panoramique des différents événements tout au long du temps, et, en deuxième lieu, descriptive, pour répondre aux effets de la société post capitaliste. L’analyse démontre l’importance du travail dans l’éducation et la pédagogie au XXIe siècle, dont les conséquences ont un effet sur les connaissances, tout au moins, en trois temps: un généalogique, là où se configurent les origines de la réflexion, un autre, montrant les nouveautés de la société car celle-ci est très influencée par la technologie capitaliste globalisée, et pour terminer, celui montrant les changements dans la société. En conclusion, l’on répondra à la question: «La Société de l’Information estelle une Société de Connaissance?»O artigo de reflexão mostra uma perspectiva geral da sociedade na qual está imerso o homem contemporâneo. A metodologia utilizada foi em primeiro lugar histórica para oferecer uma visão panorâmica dos diferentes fatos no percurso do tempo, e segundo, descritiva, para dar resposta aos efeitos na sociedade pós-capitalista. A análise evidencia a importância do trabalho na educação e na pedagogia do século XXI, onde as suas consequências afetam o conhecimento, pelo menos em três momentos: um genealógico, onde se configuram as origens da reflexão, outro, mostrando as novidades da sociedade porque está muito influenciada pela tecnologia capitalista globalizada, e no final, mostrando os câmbios na sociedade.
