Description
Summary:This project aims to propose an alternative package design for the food delivery service from La Vianda S.A. Currently, the company ships their food in disposable polystyrene containers, a material banned from some of the main cities in the United States due to its highly pollutant characteristics. In the search of a solution for this problem, a stage of diagnosis started, in which was possible to identify the main failures of the current design and standards or limitations to take into account for the design of the new package: Compostable, handy, cheap, must highlight the brand, increase sales and aimed to a healthier lifestyle. As a result of the design stage, a package design proposal emerged, made only from natural and compostable fibers, similar in touch to corrugated cardboard but with a biodegradation period of less than 12 weeks; uses a three subsections design according to company requirements and features a pressure sealing to enhance its hermetic characteristics. Additionally, the package will contain the La Vianda S.A. brand logo printed in the top face, and nutritional information about the food inside the container following current trends focused in nutritional conscience. The viability of the proposal was proved by feasibility studies, including economic, social and qualitative factors. As a result of the project La Vianda S.A. has now a proven package alternative with a biodegradation period of 12 weeks, affordable, visually attractive, that guarantees better food conservation and will give additional nutritional information about the products they’re consuming. The purpose of the new package is to increase the daily sales and overall profit of the business in the medium and large term.
